Month of Handwritten Notes & Letters: I remember as a kid, I would get so excited to receive mail. As we get older, we lose that excitement when we get to the mailbox and find bills instead of letters or personalized items. Can we bring back this excitement into our lives and others lives again as adults? Can we spread that excitement to the younger generation (and provide a teaching moment since many may not know how to address an envelope)?
Sending a handwritten letter or a personal note to someone is not only impactful for those who are receiving the letter; the sender also benefits from the thought of bringing a smile to someone else’s day. Kindness and thoughtfulness can be healing for relationships and can also help to build community and love.
Additional Benefits:
There is a hand-mind connection. Writing by hand is good for you in general. Compared to typing, writing by hand engages memory, encourages concentration, and clarifies your thoughts, which can lead to more authentically expressed communications. It also increases visual motor skills as well.
You get a break from technology (and who can't benefit from some "unplugged" time?!)
It encourages replies, whether by a returned letter, phone call, or other sentiment.
