Join the Catholic Men’s Group as we view and discuss Catholicism by Bishop Robert Barron on Wednesday, June 22 at 7pm. This is a great opportunity to become re-acquainted with the 2000 year old faith of the Church which is always and at the same time both ancient and new. It’s the faith you learned as a young man and is re-presented in a complete and easy to understand video series.
Bishop Barron journeys through more than 50 locations in 15 countries to bring you a truly Catholic explanation of the faith that many of us may not have come to fully appreciate or understand. Using breathtaking, high definition cinematography, the beauty and truth of the Catholic Faith is illustrated in a rich, multimedia experience.
The Catholicism series will be presented in multiple sessions of about 20-30 minutes each and will be part of the St. Benedict Catholic Men’s Group Prayer Meeting, which is held every third Wednesday at 7pm.
The general format of the meeting includes gathering, praying the rosary or Liturgy of the Hours on an alternating schedule, viewing of the video, discussion, prayer intentions, and closing prayer. The whole meeting lasts only about 75 minutes and is currently held via Zoom.
We have been blessed to have an average of 12 men regularly participating in our prior meetings/videos and we hope you will consider joining us in this faith filled opportunity. Please contact Kyle Howatt at (585) 489-8136 or Mike Gallagher at (585) 797-8936 to be added to the e-mail list or for additional meeting details.

Ongoing Meetings
The Catholic Men’s Group is currently meeting on a virtual basis every three weeks using the Zoom platform. We are planning on meeting in person, together with a Zoom option, as things open up in the post-Covid environment.
The format of the meeting is about 70-75 minutes total and is based on the following structure:
Currently our video for growth in the faith is “Catholicism”, by Bishop Barron. We will begin with the first episode on August 11, 2021 and we will watch half of each episode at each meeting. Each meeting will be on the schedule of every third Wednesday beginning August 11th. So our first 4 meetings for the “Catholicism” video will be August 11, September 1, September 22, and October 13.

Prior Men's Group Events
Prior Zoom Meetings – Zoom meetings as above where we prayed the Rosary or the Liturgy of the Hours, watched and discussed a Catholic video, and shared prayer intentions. The list of videos we have already watched include:
Wednesday, March 11, 2020 in Dougherty Hall - Webinar sponsored by the Institute of Catholic Culture - speaker Fr. Paul Scalia (son of the late Supreme Court Judge Antonin Scalia) shared his thoughts and experience on "Preparing Our Hearts: A Guided Examination of Conscience for Holy Confession".
Catholic Men's Group First Breakfast & Talk - November 16, 2019 - On Saturday November 16, 2019, the Catholic Men’s Group sponsored a breakfast and a talk by Dr. Matthew Kuhner.
The Knights of Columbus, Chapter #1445 from Canandaigua provided an enjoyable breakfast for 45 men from various parishes and Dr. Kuhner, who is Academic Dean and Assistant Professor of Systematic Theology at St. Bernard’s School of Theology and Ministry in Rochester, spoke eloquently and frankly about “Sexuality and the Sacred: What does the Gospel Say About Love and Sexuality?”
We hope to have 3-4 such breakfasts and talks throughout the year so check back to this web page regularly to see when the next event will be.
In the meantime, please feel free to listen to Dr. Kuhner’s talk below and share it with others! Kuhner.mp3
